One thing I noticed in moving to Seattle was the apparent lack of community events. Since I'm not one to just complain, I'm doing something about it.
For the last couple months I've been working with a small group of like minded people to start a community organization focused on the interaction between designers and developers. It doesn't matter if you are building Flash animations, HTML websites or Silverlight applications, you most likely have both a developer and a designer working on the same project, sometimes teams of each. Some companies do this better than others but we all have issues at times, we going to try and discover best practices, tips and techniques to improve the process. Hopefully, we'll meet some new friends in the process.
