I'm still in the process of cleaning up random bits from the floor but welcome to the new home of my blog. Any of you that have followed me for a while will have noticed a shift from the original purpose of the blog (Career Choices) to more of a focus on Silverlight.
This shift has occurred not just in my writing but also in my career, I recently started a new position as a RIA Developer at Ascentium in Bellevue Washington. In this position I am creating client-facing Silverlight applications for large sites, including many for Microsoft. I'm sure I will talk more about what we're doing and point to some examples of our work as I get more settled.
RIA Thoughts
I mentioned above that my focus recently has become all things Silverlight. While I'm still going to focus on Silverlight, I'm also going to talk about things that relate to all RIAs, regardless of the technology they are built with. This will include items such as UX Design, appropriate animations and 2D vs. 3D screen elements just to name a few.
My hope is to start meaningful conversations on this blog and in other venues like twitter regarding what RIAs are, how they should be built and what their benefit is in the online world we live in today.
Showcase
Another purpose of this blog is to showcase cool/innovative/ground-breaking RIAs or controls from around the Internet. Some of these will be built by me and my co-workers, others might be built by competitors and some will be built by people just learning the technologies that have fresh ideas. These showcased items will be accompanied by commentary that gives context to the piece, not just all thrown in a gallery.
What I'm Doing
While the focus of this site is on RIAs I'll write about myself from time to time, it is my blog after all :). This will include events I'm speaking at, stuff I'm working on and possibly other completely random thoughts. These won't be too overwhelming so just tolerate it and stick around for the good content.
